Shiraz Ensemble Concert Visuals
At Icebox Project Space
Hosted by Fire Museum Presents
For the Shiraz Ensemble, a contemporary Iranian music group dedicated to reimagining classical traditions, this project featured a series of evolving Persian calligraphic forms inspired by Akhavan Sales' "Chavoosh" poem, creating an immersive visual language that mirrored the ensemble’s dynamic performance.
As the event opened with atmospheric, textural drumming that gradually intensified, the projections transformed fluidly in the background, evolving alongside the music. The calligraphy morphed and shifted with the composition, moving from calm to chaotic as the rhythms gained momentum. By blending traditional Persian calligraphy with modern motion design, the visuals served as a cultural narrative harmonizing with the ensemble’s sounds, embodying Shiraz Ensemble’s mission to push the boundaries of Iranian music while honoring its rich heritage.
